Drew Sinatra, ND
Dr. Drew Sinatra’s interest in medicine began with a personal experience battling severe childhood asthma and allergies. After a decade of relying on inhalers and steroids to breathe, he weaned himself off all medications by radically changing his diet, and incorporating holistic therapies into his daily life including botanical medicines, meditation techniques, homeopathy, and yoga therapy.
From this experience, Dr. Sinatra learned that medicine must shift from “disease care” to true ‘health care” for quality of life to improve. He is incredibly passionate about educating the public and his patients about optimal wellness, and has learned over the years that health is not a destination, but rather a journey that continually requires an integration of body, mind, and spirit.
Before deciding to move with his family to the Bay Area, Dr. Sinatra practiced integrative medicine at a multidisciplinary center in Vancouver, British Columbia He is thrilled to work along side Dr. McDougall and Dr. Tenney at CLEAR, as these doctors truly embody wellness medicine.
Outside the office, Dr. Sinatra is busy researching and writing articles about health and wellness. He is one of the doctors at Healthy Directions, which is a leading health publisher and direct to consumer retailer of doctor formulated nutritional supplements. Dr. Sinatra is also a contributing editor for the HeartMDInstitute that builds awareness around heart healthy lifestyle measures including diet, exercise, and targeted nutritional support.
Recently he wrote a chapter for an integrative nutritional cardiology textbook titled “Naturopathic Medicine in the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.” This chapter explains how to reduce high blood pressure using natural medicines and lifestyle modifications. He also co-wrote a journal article in Alternative Therapies called “A Statin for All Diabetics? Not So Fast…,” which looks at the risk and benefits of statin medications in diabetic patients.
Dr. Sinatra earned his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, and continued his education with a master’s degree in Acupuncture, and a doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine. He is a member of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association (CNDA), American College of Nutrition (ACN), and International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). He is a board certified and California licensed Naturopathic Doctor, and a licensed acupuncturist in Washington State.
When Dr. Sinatra is not spending time with his wife and two active boys, he avidly enjoys yoga, hiking, kiteboarding, and frequenting farmers markets.
“I operate a family medicine practice that blends the best of naturopathic and conventional medicines. I consider myself a medical detective, and I thoroughly investigate each case to identify and treat the root causes of disease. In order to fully understand a patient’s case, I often order specialty lab testing, blood work, and I may perform energy medicine testing (BAH) to provide additional information. The patients I see have typically struggled for years visiting many doctors, specialists, and other practitioners with no working diagnosis or options for treatment. My philosophy on medicine is to “think outside the box,” and provide my patients solutions for their complex medical issues. My specialties including treating fatigue, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances (thyroid, adrenal, and sex steroid), cardiovascular concerns, and other complex chronic diseases.”
