The Truth about the Swine Flu Shot

by: Dr. Jacqueline Chan, D.O.

Is the Swine Flu really a pandemic?
The H1N1 virus has now been found in 100 countries around the world – so by definition YES it is a pandemic

Is the Swine Flu deadly?
So far there are 43,771 documented cases of probable swine flu with 302 deaths – a death rate of 0.07%

How is the Swine Flu Vaccine made?
There are 4 manufacturers involved in the worldwide production of the H1N1 vaccine. They are as follows: Sanofi Pasteur, Glaxo Smith Kline, Novartis, CSL (based in Australia) and Medimmune. The Swine Flu vaccine is now the largest, fastest vaccine program in the world; in fact it is bigger than the polio vaccine program that was enforced in the 1950’s. In order to make enough of this vaccine this rapidly 1 quart of virus needs to be multiplied to 20 gallons by adding an oil based adjuvant. The government wants to continue to make the vaccine till March 2010 until there are enough doses for the entire U.S. population. The European Medicines Agency is fast-tracking the approval process for the swine flu vaccine.

Is the Swine Flu Vaccine safe?

The two adjuvants used to make the Swine Flu Vaccine have not been approved for use in both the U.S.A. and in Europe. These two adjuvants are referred to as: ASO ¾ (considered experimental as safety has not been proven) and MF-59. MF-59 made by Novartis is derived from human retinal cell line and is primarily composed of squalene. MF-59 adjuvant was used in the Anthrax vaccine during the Persian Gulf War. Military veterans have blamed the Anthrax vaccine as a causative agent of “Gulf War Syndrome” a disabling condition that essentially appears like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. ALL rats injected with squalene adjuvants developed a disease that left them crippled, dragging their paralyzed hindquarters across their cages. Injected squalene can cause severe arthritis (3 on a scale of 4) and severe immune responses, such as autoimmune arthritis and lupus.

On July 22, 2009 clinical trials are starting under the auspices of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases headed by the NIH. A determination will be made in 3-5 weeks for safety in order to implement the H1N1 flu vaccine this fall, even though it takes months for an autoimmune response, such as arthritis, to appear that has resulted from a vaccine. The trial consists of giving the vaccine to adults aged 18-64 and the elderly over the age of 65 two doses 21 days apart. However, the vaccines will not have the adjuvant in them! If the trial is proven “safe” after 3 weeks it will be given to children. Keep in mind that the vaccine at that point has only been studied for 5 weeks and the toxic squalene adjuvant is not being included in the trial.

Who will get the vaccine?
The first group of people to get the vaccine will be children less than the age of 4 and pregnant women. The second group will be children with asthma and emergency response workers. Regular flu shots plus 2 swine flu shots are recommended for children.

What is in the regular flu shot?
The regular flu shot contains the following: egg protein and avian contaminant viruses, thimerosal (mercury), polysorbate 80 (an allergen), formaldehyde (a carcinogen), Triton X100 (a detergent), resin (an allergen), gentamycin (an antibiotic) and gelatin (an allergen) as well as sucrose (table sugar).

It is being recommended that children receive both the regular flu shot and the H1N1 vaccine.

How well has the flu shot protected children and adults in the past?
A review of 51 studies involving more than 294,000 children found that there was “no evidence that injecting children 6-24 months of age with a flu shot was any more effective than placebo. In children over 2 years it was only effective 33% of the time in preventing the flu. Reference: “Vaccines for preventing influenza in healthy children.” The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 2 (2008).

In a review of 48 reports (more than 66,000 adults), “vaccination of healthy adults only reduced the risk of influenza by 6% and reduced the number of missed work days by less than one day (0.16) days. It did not change the number of people needing to go to the hospital or take time off work” Reference: “Vaccines for preventing influenza in healthy adults. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 1 (2006).

In a review of the 64 studies over 98 flu seasons of elderly living in nursing homes, flu shots were non-significant for preventing the flu. For elderly living in the community, vaccines were not (significantly) effective against influenza, IL1 or pneumonia. Reference: “Vaccines for preventing influenza in the elderly.” The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 3 (2006).

If something happens after getting the vaccine that is a negative side effect can I press legal action?
The vaccine manufacturers have complete immunity from legal liability due the PREPA 2006 Law for Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act which was signed into affect 7/17/09. Both Baxter and Glaxo Smith Kline have complete immunity from legal charges in the United Kingdom.

What can I do?
Boost your immune system naturally.
  • You can take 3,000 I.U. of Vit. D daily with some source of fat (as it is fat soluble), or up to 50,000 I.U. Vit. D daily for 2 weeks but not more if you actually have the flu.
  • Wash your hands regularly especially when in a public space.
  • Get adequate sleep. For every one hour you go to bed before midnight it equals 2 hours of sleep after midnight.
  • Exercise regularly – 20 min. a day is optimal or at least 3xs a week for 20-60 min.
  • Drink lots of water – 8- 10 glasses a day.
  • Specific products to help the flu available at Clear Center of Health (www.clearcenterofhealth.com) are: ViraClear EPs 7630. This has over 20 clinical studies on over 9,000 participants of which 3900 were children and has been proven safe in children as young as 2 years of age. It includes a homeopathic remedy, EPs7630 from the roots of the South African Pelargonium sidoides plant (a member of the Germanium family). It works by stimulating the release of 2 powerful immune cytokines (TNF-alpha and interferon-beta), increases natural killer cell activity and stimulates the hair cells in the lungs and nose to mobilize mucous. It comes in a liquid drop form. Come in and pick up your ViraClear at Clear Center and have it on hand for the family.
